  1. 8) The morning after pill is a two dose drug that combines estrogen and progesterone. The first dose is taken within 72 hours of contraception, and the second should be taken twelve hours later. Each dose contains 100 micrograms of ethinyl estradiol and 0.5 milligrams of leyonorgestrel. Side effects may include vomiting. If the woman vomits within two hours after taken a dose, there is a high chance that the medication will not be effective.
